DATA PRIVACY & COMPLIANCE
UPDATED AUG 2026

Privacy Policy

Safexa Technologies (“we”, “us”, “our”, or the “Company”) operates ExamSafexa, a safety-first navigation and community-travel platform for students (the “Platform”), accessible via www.examsafexa.com and our mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and protect it, and the choices and rights you have. By using the Platform, you agree to the practices described in this Policy. This Policy is designed to comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and other applicable Indian laws. Because a significant number of our users are students under the age of 18, this Policy pays particular attention to how we handle minors' data and parental/guardian consent.

SECTION 01

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Name, date of birth, mobile number, and email address (used for OTP-based login and account creation).
  • Exam details you add — exam name, application details, exam center, and admit card documents you choose to upload.
  • Guardian/parent details, if you choose to add a guardian — name, email, and relationship.
  • Any preference settings you choose, including travel-group preference (women-only, men-only, mixed, or no preference).
  • Messages, feedback, or information you submit through support or contact channels.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device and usage information (device type, operating system, app version, approximate usage patterns) to help us maintain and improve the Platform.
  • Location information, but only when you explicitly enable it — see Section 3 (Location & Safety Data) below for full detail.

1.3 Information From Third Parties

  • If a guardian confirms their association with a student via our guardian-consent flow, we receive their confirmation status and contact details they provide.
  • Mapping and navigation data is processed via our mapping service provider (e.g., Mapbox) to power center-search and navigation features.
SECTION 02

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and maintain your account and personalized dashboard.
  • To help you find, verify, and navigate to your exam center.
  • To match you with other students for group travel, based on your stated preference and exam center/date, and to show you students from your area heading to the same center.
  • To operate the opt-in parent-safety layer, including live location sharing during an active exam-day window and SOS alerts.
  • To send you exam-related notifications, reminders, and newsletters.
  • To respond to support requests and improve the Platform's features and reliability.
  • To meet legal, regulatory, and security obligations.
We do not use your personal data for purposes unrelated to the Platform's core functions, and we do not sell your personal data to third parties.
SECTION 03

3. Location & Safety Data

Because location sharing and SOS features involve sensitive, real-time data, they are governed by the following specific rules:

  • Location sharing is strictly opt-in. It is off by default and must be actively turned on by the student for a specific exam-day journey.
  • When active, your live location is visible only to the specific guardian(s) you have added and confirmed — never to other students, the public, or any party outside your explicit consent.
  • Location sharing automatically expires a fixed period (typically 2–3 hours) after the exam start time, or sooner if manually turned off by the student. This expiry is enforced on our servers, not just in the app interface.
  • When SOS is triggered, your live location and an alert are sent immediately to your confirmed guardian(s) and, where applicable, displayed with relevant local emergency helpline information (such as the nearest police station) for the exam-center area.
  • We retain historical location data only for the minimum period necessary for safety, support, and legal purposes, after which it is deleted or anonymized.
SECTION 05

5. How We Share Information

We share personal data only in the following limited circumstances:

  • With your confirmed guardian(s), strictly as described in Section 3, and only when you have opted in.
  • With trusted service providers who help us operate the Platform (e.g., cloud hosting, mapping services, SMS/email providers for OTP and notifications), under contractual confidentiality obligations.
  • With coaching institutes or colleges, only where you have separately and explicitly consented to such sharing (e.g., as part of an institutional partnership program).
  • Where required by law, regulation, court order, or to protect the safety of a user or the public.
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to continued protection of your data under an equivalent policy.
SECTION 06

6. Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to provide the Platform's features, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Location and SOS-related data are subject to the shorter, safety-specific retention rules described in Section 3. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time, as described in Section 8.

SECTION 07

7. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted storage of credentials, access controls, and secure authentication (OTP-based login, hashed credentials). However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we encourage users to protect their own account access (e.g., not sharing OTPs).

SECTION 08

8. Your Rights and Choices

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • Access: Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Correct inaccurate or outdated information.
  • Consent Withdrawal: Withdraw consent for location sharing or guardian association at any time.
  • Erasure: Request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
  • Grievance Redressal: Lodge a grievance with our Grievance Officer (Section 10) if you believe your data has been misused.
SECTION 09

9. Cookies and Website Analytics
